The Capital Delivery Safety Partner plays an integral role in supporting the safe delivery of infrastructure projects at North East Water.
In this role you will, provide leadership to project managers and stakeholders through providing highly valued input and advice on all OHS related matters for our capital delivery projects.
A core component of this role is undertaking regular site visits to collaborate with Principal Contractor OHS staff and conduct OHS audits and inspections programs to achieve compliance. You will have access to a North East Water vehicle for any onsite travel required. This is an amazing opportunity to get out and about in the beautiful north east region!
This role is a full-time opportunity, including a monthly RDO and flexible work options.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining Safety Functional Requirements Specification on our Capital Delivery projects.
- Supporting the safe delivery of capital projects, from inception through to completion. Including but not limited to, participating in project scoping, risk assessments, HAZOP, Construction, Hazard, Assessment and Implication Reviews and project briefings and undertaking incident debriefs.
- Developing and reviewing project documentation and contractor reporting.
- Leading OHS Principal Contractor interviews with preferred tenderers.
- Working closely with project managers to ensure contractor OHS obligations are met.
- Providing specialist advice to empower staff and senior leaders.
- Ensuring all data is correctly entered into our Work Health and Safety Information System.
- Collating and contributing data for contractor OHS performance reporting.
- Preparing and presenting Principal Contractor OHS performance data to Planning & Infrastructure and OHS teams.

Key Selection Criteria
To be in consideration for this position please address in your application how you meet the following key selection criteria:
- Relevant qualification in Occupational/Work Health and Safety with extensive experience in the construction industry.
- Demonstrated experience in completing risk assessments, HAZOP and CHAIR processes, controlling worksite hazards, undertaking incident debriefs and documenting safe work processes.
- Ability to maintain a working knowledge of relevant legislation and industry best practice.
- Knowledge of high-risk work activities and how appropriate control measures should be implemented.
- Ability to lead by example and demonstrate a significant degree of individual initiative.
